UPDATE: The Royers will be leaving the joint venture on February 24th for greener pastures. After this date, the products indicated in this review will no longer be available at the Coopers Meat Market location as the Royers Round Top Take-Out Market will no longer exist. However, pies will be available after the closing at several outlets to be determined across the Austin Area. -slowdog The indulgent smell of pastries baking in the oven greet your nose as soon as you walk out of your car. They pull you toward the door newly repainted Cooper's Meat Market and Royer's Round Top Take-Out Market. Wait, Royers Round Top? Pies? What does that have to do with a meat market? Well, my friends, thanks to the union of these two gourmet foodie forces, we have the makings of some really good eats.

For years, Cooper's Meat Market, located off of 35th Street on Jefferson has been home to Lee Cooper's small meat market gourmet take-out. For the past few holiday seasons, Lee has helped bring the famous Royers pies of Round Top to Austin. Soon, the Royers and Coopers decide to join forces and not only offer the Royers pies year round, but to partner up and combine the foods that Lee creates with the famous OMG entrees available from the original Round Top cafe. (OMG is the Royers way of saying that a dish is so good that it is simply indescribable.) Since there is a veritable cournocopia of choices available at the take-out market, Foodquest has enlisted its largest ever group of foodies to sample the fare at the newly created Coopers and Royers Market.
Freshly made pies greet your eyes as you walk in the door. Whether you're a fan of fruit pies or favor the buttery sweetness of a good pecan pie, the selection is extensive. Pies are available whole or by the slice. Usually perched alongside the pies is the aptly named Sin-nammon Ring. Healthy eating at its finest with a pound of frosting perched atop a four pound cinnamon yeast roll and sprinked with pecans. To see it is to believe it. Fortunately, for those who want a glimpse of what the big brother is like, there are also the Sin-nammon Rolls which are more modestly sized. Granted, modestly in this case is still pretty well portioned...
The cooler offers a glimpse of the Market's extensive menu. While most items are chilled for ease in transportation and storage, the food can also be served fresh and hot upon request. The Chicken Pot Pie is featured along with the Shrimp Stuffed Quail. The Chicken Wellington brings a unique interpretation to the traditional beef and the thick cut Beef Tenderloin rounds up some of the selection available. Since the food at Coopers and Royers Market is meant to be taken out, the food here differs from the usual reviews in that they are taken offsite and documented. This way, the most accurate representation of the entrees is possible. Click below to continue to the Take-Out Entrees -
