The Foodquest... In search for the perfect meal. Where culinary adventures await. Every foodie knows about the pleasure of discovering an unexpected delight in the most unlikely of places. Whether it be on a street corner or in the finest restaurant, the joy of the discovery is to the foodie like nothing else.
The Foodquest began in 1997 at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Over a steaming plate of the House Seafood Special at the now defunct Thai-Soon, several friends and I decided then and there to explore every restaurant of every category in Austin before we graduated from college. Upon reaching my senior year, with the foodquest still incomplete, I decided to cheat a little by enlisting in grad school. There, a few more years at least...
While the site is brand new, the Foodquest has been going on for quiet a few years. Over time, new foodies have been added to come along on the foodquests. As the site develops, past foodquests and reevaluations will be added. There are already several platinum-level restaurants that have been explored over the years both in Austin and across the world.
In addition to reviews of restaurants, you can voice your opinions and join in on discussions with the comments system directly connected to each article. This will let others visiting the site immediately see your experiences when reading the restaurant review. The more experiences we have about a restaurant, the better informed we can be as Foodies. The Austin foodie board also allows for a quick and easy way to find out about new restaurants and what others think about it. In many ways, this site was started to bring the foodies of Austin together and is done for the love of the food and the adventures involved. |
